UPTOWN — A new restaurant offering hefty portions of Caribbean food made from scratch is heading to Uptown.

A sign announcing the Jerk Stop has been placed on the FLATS Chicago building at 1132 W. Wilson Ave.

"Our food is really extraordinary and you can tell we use fresh, good quality ingredients. Enough food for an entire family," the Jerk Stop says on its website.

Food will be available for catering, delivery and carry out.

"We deliver and you get a ton of food," the website promises. "We are always very personable and want to make sure you are pleased with your order."

According to its menu, the Jerk Stop will serve up plantains, sweet potato and regular fries, jerk tacos, plantain sandwiches, whole jerk chickens, curry chicken, curried goat and more.

Jerk Stop specialties, which cost about $7, include: jerk wings, jerky wrap, jerk vegetable wrap, jerky chicken salad, jerky chicken salad, jerky chicken sandwich, jerky stir-fry and jerky burrito.

Mark Heffron, a managing partner for Cedar Street which owns FLATS, confirmed the restaurant will being taking over the space, which was previously occupied by Harold's Chicken.

"We’re happy to bring in another authentic restaurant concept to Wilson Avenue. We look forward to them opening," but do not have a projected date for the opening, Heffron said via email Tuesday.

A representative for the restaurant could not immediately be reached for comment.
