PORTAGE PARK — Ghouls and goblins are sure to come dressed to the nines for a walkathon and trick-or-trunk event that will benefit O.A. Thorp Scholastic Academy.

The event will take place from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Oct. 15 at Thorp, 6024 W. Warwick Ave., will raise money for Friends of Thorp, a parent-run organization that raises money for programs and projects at the Portage Park magnet school.

Students, family and friends can wear their Halloween costumes and walk as many laps as possible around the designated course around the school and then go trick or treating in the teacher parking lot.

There will also be face painting and crafts available, and attendees can bid on pumpkins decorated by each class, organizers said.

Business owners are invited to participate in the trick-or-trunk event.
