DOWNTOWN — Police are looking for a man breaking into Loop office buildings and leaving with laptops and other electronics.

Downtown police shared surveillance images of the suspect Tuesday following the string of burglaries this month near the Chicago Board of Trade.

In the crimes, the suspect broke into the office buildings via their ground-floor retailers or restaurants and took laptops, cameras, cellphones and other items. In some instances he breached the street-level doors or windows during the day and came back hours later at night to finish the burglaries, police said.

The burglaries were reported:

• 3:10 a.m. Sept. 9 in the 100 block of West Van Buren Street

• Between 4:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. Sept. 12 and 13 in the 100 block of West Van Buren Street

• Between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. Sept. 13 in the 100 block of West Van Buren Street

• 3 a.m. Sept. 13 in the 100 block of West Van Buren Street

• Between 8:40 a.m. and 11:20 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25 in the first block of North LaSalle Street

Police do not have an estimate on how much the suspect stole. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 312-747-8384.
