WEST RIDGE — A man attempted to lure two children into his car in the West Ridge neighborhood Saturday morning, according to police.

Around 9:20 a.m., a seven-year-old and 10-year-old were near the 2900 block of West Lunt Avenue — a residential area next to Decatur Classical Elementary School and park areas — when a light blue, four-door sedan rolled up alongside them and stopped, police said.

The man driving, described as being in his 40s with a bald head and brown beard, was a stranger to the children, but police said he motioned for the kids to come closer and began to get out of the car.

The kids continued walking, but the man also continued to drive alongside them, according to police.

The children were able to run home and tell their families, who called police. The driver fled headed west on Lunt Avenue.

Anyone with information is asked to call Area North Detectives at 312-744-8200.
