WICKER PARK- A man died after falling from a construction site in Wicker Park on Friday, officials said.

Officers responded to the 1600 block of West Division Street Friday morning where they found James Thiel, 54, had fallen from the third floor of a building that is under construction, said Chicago Fire Department District Chief Jeff Lyle.

Thiel, who was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:42 a.m.

ABC7 reported that the Thiel was a construction worker on the site.

Larry Powers, an executive with Centrum Partners, who are the developers of a 60-unit apartment building on the property where the worker died, expressed condolences.

"We were devastated to learn of the tragedy. We can only think of his family," Powers said. "I cannot imagine the grief they are experiencing. Our prayers are with them."
