JEFFERSON PARK — A play that focuses on the disappearance of an expectant mother on Christmas Eve is the latest production of the Gift Theatre's 2016 season.

"A Life Extra Ordinary" stars Cyd Blakewell as Annabel Anderson McCafferty, who vanishes from her small Ohio town. Both a mystery and a mediation on the power of memory, the play "untangles and re-assembles the moments that make a life," theater officials said.

Previews of the play directed by John Gawlik start Sept. 29 and run through Oct. 2, with opening night set for Oct. 6.

This is the second play by Melissa Ross to be performed at the 40-seat theater at 4802 N. Milwaukee Ave., said Michael Patrick Thornton, the Gift Theatre's founder and artistic director.

"Melissa's script, brought to life by these artists, will create an unforgettable experience for our beloved audience," Thornton said.

Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and at 2:30 p.m. Sundays through Nov. 20.

Tickets, which range from $25 to $35, are available online at thegifttheatre.org or by phone at 773-283-7071.
