Fifth Annual Tough Cup Rowing Regatta Hits The River Saturday

BRIDGEPORT — More than 300 rowers will take to the river Saturday to compete in the Chicago Training Center's fifth annual Tough Cup.

The race, also known as "The Rumble on the River," kicks off at at 9 a.m. on the South Branch of the Chicago River at 2500 S. Corbett St. The 5K race event is expected to wrap up around noon at Halsted Street.

The training center will take on teams including New Trier, Camp Randall, Alliance Rowing, Crystal Lake, Fox River Rowing and Loyola Academy.

Established in 2012, the Tough Cup pits the best rowing crews in the area against one another to claim the title of toughest crew team on the Chicago River.

For spectators, there will be race programs and shirts.
