Bridgeport Car Wash Robbed At Gunpoint

BRIDGEPORT — An armed man robbed a neighborhood car wash Tuesday, according to Chicago Police.

At 5:11 p.m. Tuesday, the man walked into Lookin’ Good Hand Car Wash, 3540 S. Halsted St., pulled out a hand gun and demanded that an employee empty his pockets, according to authorities.

At one point the man had the car wash manager by the shirt collar and pointed a gun at his face, according to witnesses.

The man fled the car wash, heading south on Halsted. It it unknown how much money the robber took.

The robber is described as a black man between 20 and 25 years old, standing between 5-foot-3 and 5-foot-4 and weighing 130-135 pounds, police said. He was seen wearing a white t-shirt, black sweat pants and a white hat.

The car wash has been open for more than 15 years. Tuesday's incident marked the first time robbers had targeted the neighborhood business, according to authorities. The car wash owners had no comment on the robbery.

Area detectives are investigating.
