Bridgeport Burglaries Prompt Warning From Police

BRIDGEPORT — There has been a rash of burglaries in the neighborhood, according to Deering District detectives.

Police said the crimes took place:

• At 10 p.m. Sept. 3 in the 3300 block of South Lituanica Avenue

• At 5 p.m. Sept. 9 in the 900 block of West 33rd Place

• At noon Sept. 11 in the 2900 block of South Farrell Street

• At 10:15 p.m. Sept. 12 in the 2900 block of South Archer Avenue

• At 9 a.m. Sept. 13 in the 2900 block of South Quinn Street

• At 11 a.m. Sept. 13 in the 2900 block of South Poplar Avenue

Here’s what Chicago Police say you can do to keep your homes and property safe:

• Keep your property well lit.

• Report all suspicious activity.

• Keep doors and windows secured.

• Immediately repair any broken windows, doors or locks.

• If video surveillance is available, make a copy of the footage of the crime for detectives.

• If your home is burglarized, do not touch anything. Call police instead.

• If you find witnesses, request their contact information for detectives.
