CHICAGO — A 24-year-old man was found shot dead early Sunday in Brainerd — just one block away from where Nahmar Holmes, 23, was shot and killed Sept. 10.

The deadly shootings happened near the Metra Rock Island Line.

In the most recent shooting, officers found the man's body at 2:25 a.m. Sunday in a gangway in the 8900 block of South Laflin Street, police said.

He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The man has been identified as Kiev Dobbins, who lived in the 9000 block of South Laflin Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Just eight days earlier, Holmes was shot and killed by two people who approached while he was standing in front of a home in the 8900 block of South Justine Street, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

Holmes, who was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, was shot multiple times in the torso and was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Also nearby, at 9:35 p.m. Saturday, a 17-year-old was sitting on a front porch in the 1000 block of West 103rd Place in Washington Heights when someone in a dark-colored SUV drove by and fired shot, police said.

He was shot in the right buttocks and leg and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where his condition was not released but police were considering him stable.

No arrests have been made, police said.
