ROGERS PARK — For 25 years, the Leather Archives and Museum in Rogers Park has documented and celebrated Chicago's kinky past, and this weekend opens its doors to the public for free anniversary celebrations and exhibits.

On Friday and Sunday, attendees can learn about the city's leather, kink and fetish scenes throughout the years with a series of lectures, speakers, exhibits, a party and more at the 6418 N. Greenview Ave. location.

“I never thought when Tony DeBlase and I started the [museum], it would have such great community support,” said founder Chuck Renslow, also president of the museum's board. “Before the Leather Archives and Museum, most of our history was going into dumpsters. Now our history is being saved worldwide.”

The archives and museum were founded in 1991 and originally located in Andersonville, though they moved further north to Rogers Park in 1999.
