Man Tried To Lure 13-Year-Old Girl Riding Bike in Jefferson Park: Police

By Heather Cherone | September 15, 2016 6:34am

JEFFERSON PARK — A man tried to lure a 13-year-old girl riding her bike in Jefferson Park Wednesday evening, police said.

The girl was walking in the 5200 block of Northwest Highway near Central Avenue in an area filled with stores about a block away from the Jefferson Park Police District Headquarters, police said.

A man standing outside a dirty white work van smiled at the girl and told her to "come here" in "an authoritarian tone of voice," police said.

The girl, who police said feared for her safety, alerted an off-duty police officer who called 911, police said.

Police are looking for a white man between 40 and 50 years old between 5-feet-5-inches and 5-feet-6-inches tall and weighing 140 pounds. He had a medium-brown complexion and wore sunglasses, a green baseball cap, brown sweater and black pants, police said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 312-744-8200.
