EDGEWATER — Have you ever wondered how some of the Far North Side's first residents lived?
Many of the original structures that once housed some of Chicago's earliest settlers — from the elite, to the traveling, to the religious — still stand today and are opening their doors to the public for the 2016 Open House Chicago tour.
The free tour will showcase 12 beautiful and historically significant buildings on the Far North Side between Oct. 14 and 15, such as the famed pink Edgewater Beach Apartments, lakeside mansions, castle-esque condos and impeccably detailed places of worship.
The event is sponsored by the Chicago Architecture Foundation and features 200 sites across the city and surrounding suburbs.

Edgewater
• Edgewater Beach Apartments, 5555 N. Sheridan Road: Open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and closed Sunday.

• Berger Park North Mansion (Gunder House), 6219 N. Sheridan Road: Open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

• St. Ita Roman Catholic Church, 5500 North Broadway: Open 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and closed Sunday.

Rogers Park

West Ridge
