Morgan Park Shooting Wounds Man, 55, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 55-year-old man was shot and wounded early Thursday in Morgan Park, police said.

At 3:11 a.m. the man was walking down the street in the 11000 block of South Racine Avenue when a man with a gun walked up to him and snatched his gold chain, police said. The victim and the man struggled over the gun and it went off, police said.

The man was hit in the right foot, police said. He took himself to Metro South Medical Center, where he was in good condition. The shooter ran away.

No one was in custody.
