NORWOOD PARK — O'Hare-bound Blue Line trains will not stop at the Harlem station through Sept. 20 as crews continue to rebuild the station as part of a massive overhaul of the train line, CTA officials said.

Only Loop-bound trains will stop at the Harlem station on the CTA Blue Line while the work is underway, Chicago Transit Authority officials warned riders.

Trains will continue to stop in both directions at Jefferson Park and Cumberland stations, and riders should consider using those stations instead, transit officials said.

A $492 million rehabilitation project is working its way west along the Blue Line.

In addition to modernized stations, the project is designed to slice 10 minutes off a round trip ride between Downtown and O'Hare, CTA officials said.

The Harlem station will get a new coat of paint and new lights as well as new benches, shelters and trash bins. The platform's canopy as well as the edges of the walkway and its railing will also be repaired, officials said. Security measures will also be improved, officials said.

Alerts about Blue Line construction are available online. In addition, riders can sign up for email or text alerts from CTA officials.
