MORGAN PARK — The Frunchroom, a quarterly reading series, will feature an all-woman lineup when it returns at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to the Beverly Woods Restaurant in Morgan Park.

The live-lit event at 11532 S. Western Ave. will also kick off a week that concludes with the 2016 Beverly Art Walk. This annual showcase of local artists will take place from noon-7 p.m. Saturday.

The Beverly Area Arts Alliance is entering its third year of organizing the artsy stroll through the Far Southwest Side. And organizers also have a hand in The Frunchroom, which moved July 21 to the banquet hall after outgrowing its original venue — O'Rourke's Office in Morgan Park.

“When we moved to Beverly Woods to find a bigger space, I assumed we’d draw a good-sized crowd and then expand into the space over time,” said Scott Smith, The Frunchroom's organizer and emcee.

"Instead, we had another packed house and even had to bring in more chairs. It’s already exceeded my expectations thanks to our eclectic, diverse speakers who bring their A-game when they hit the stage and our very supportive audiences, many of whom are regulars at this point,” said Smith, a Morgan Park resident.

Horse Thief Hollow manager Lizzy Benner will supplement the bartenders at Beverly Woods by serving craft cocktails made just for the event. And other members of the alliance will contribute by adding retro-inspired decor to keep with the theme.

Guest for the upcoming show include:

Eve Ewing of the South Loop is a post-doctoral student at the University of Chicago. Her collection of poetry, essays and visual art, titled "Electric Arches" will be released in fall 2017.

Katy Jacob is a former Beverly resident who moved to suburban Oak Park this summer. She works as a business economist and payments consultant and also writes poetry and blogs. Jacob was part of the inaugural cast of Listen to Your Mother Chicago in 2012.

Sheila Maloney of Beverly is the director of externships at Northern Illinois University's College of Law. Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Maloney is a former business litigation attorney for Locke Lord LLP and authored “The American Bar Association’s Guide to Resolving Your Dispute: Inside and Outside of the Courtroom.”

Eileen O’Connor of West Beverly is a former Chicago Public Schools teacher who authors the popular "No Wire Hangers, Ever" blog. O'Connor's humorous blog posts focus on her life on the South Side as being an adult orphan, wife and mother.

Mare Swallow of Andersonville is a professional speaker, writer and student. She founded the Chicago Writers Conference and authored "21 Ways to Engage Your Audience."
