UPTOWN — Gregory Sims, 25, died after being shot in a drive-by in Uptown on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Around 2:45 p.m., Sims was shot in his chest while walking in the 4500 block of North Kenmore Avenue, said Office Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

The shots were fired from a passing car that fled the scene after the shooting, Sweeney said.

Sims was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition, Sweeney said. He was later pronounced dead.

Sims, of the 7800 block of South May Street, was pronounced dead at 4:35 p.m., according to Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. An autopsy showed he died of multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.
