South Side Shootings Leave 5 Wounded, Police Say

CHICAGO — South Side shootings left five wounded since Sunday, police said. 

In non-fatal Monday shootings:

At 12:55 a.m., two men, 19 and 18, were shot as they were sitting in a parked car in the 10100 block of South Princeton Avenue on the Far South Side by a man who approached them, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. 

The older man, who was shot in his right leg, was taken to Christ Medical Center, where his condition wasn't known, but he was listed as "stable," Estrada said.

The younger man, who was shot in the back, torso, and left leg, was also taken Christ Medical Center, where his condition wasn't known, but he was listed as "stable," Estrada said.

The men are a documented gang members, police said. 

In non-fatal Sunday shootings:

At 7:15 p.m., a 19-year-old man was playing basketball in the 9700 block of South Yates Boulevard in Jeffery Manor when someone on a bicycle shot him, Estrada said.

The man, who was shot in the leg, was taken to Trinity Hospital, where his condition wasn't known, but he was listed as "stable," Estrada said. 

At 4:30 p.m., a 22-year-old was in the 7100 block of South State Street in Park Manor when someone walked up and shot him, Estrada said.

The man, who shot in the abdomen, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, Estrada said. 

The man was a documented gang member, police said. 

At 4:08 p.m., a 23-year-old man was sitting on his porch in the 7400 block of South Kenwood Avenue in Grand Crossing when someone emerged from a green car and shot him, Estrada said.

The man, who was shot in the torso, was taken to Jackson Park Hospital, where his condition wasn't known, but he was listed as "stable," Estrada said.

The man was a documented gang member, police said. 

No one is in custody for the shootings, police said.
