LAKEVIEW — An off-duty police officer was robbed at gunpoint in Lakeview Saturday evening, police said.

At 9:35 p.m., a 35-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were walking in the 3100 block of North Ravenswood Avenue when a black SUV pulled up and abruptly stopped in front of them, according to Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

A group of youths between the ages of 16 and 20 jumped out of the SUV and pointed guns at them, demanded their belongings and drove away, Lemmon said.

Police later confirmed that the man was an off-duty officer.

The robbers took the officer's star, which was later recovered nearby, according to the website CWB Chicago.
