EDGEBROOK — Police are looking for three to five men who used a blue steel handgun to rob several people of their wallets and cell phones on the Northwest Side in recent days, according to an alert issued Saturday afternoon.

In two cases, the offenders also groped the female victims through their clothes, police said.

The men approached the victims, displayed the gun and struck the victims before taking their wallets and cell phones, police said.

The first robbery took place at 10:20 p.m. Aug. 26 in the 5700 block of north Kimball Avenue in North Park, police said.

The second incident took place between 10:30 and 10:48 p.m. Monday in the 3400 block of west Carmen Avenue in North Park, police said.

The most recent incident took place at 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the 6400 block of north Hiawatha Avenue in Edgebrook, police said.

The sexual assaults occurred on Carmen Avenue and Hiawatha Avenue, police said.

In a post to the 41st Ward's Neighborhood Watch Facebook page, Ald. Anthony Napolitano (41st) said the robbers fled from the Edgebrook incident in a gold or silver Nissan sedan and struck two parked vehicles before heading north on Central Avenue.

Napolitano said the Edgebrook robbery was similar to an incident Monday evening in nearby Morton Grove, when a cell phone was stolen from a woman at gunpoint.

CTA surveillance cameras captured two men using one of the victim's Ventra cards.

The men being sought by the police are black, between the ages of 14 and 25 between 5-feet-5-inches and 5-feet-10-inches tall weighing between 150 and 190 pounds.

Anyone with information about the crimes should call Area North detectives at 312-744-8263, police said.
