COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A Pennsylvania woman, in town to help a friend move in to her new Rogers Park apartment, was raped during the move-in by a man in the building, prosecutors said.

Olawole Oluwajana, 28, is charged with criminal sexual assault.

According to authorities, the 36-year-old victim was helping a 21-year-old friend in Rogers Park on Aug. 17 when the two women encountered Oluwajana, who lives in the same building as the friend.

Oluwajana offered to show the victim his apartment so that she could see his furniture setup, prosecutors said, but the victim refused to go inside. Oluwajana had never met either woman before that day.

At one point, the victim's friend and a furniture-store employee who was helping with the move left to get tools, Assistant State's Attorney Holly Grosshans said during a bond hearing Wednesday.

That's when Oluwajana allegedly followed the victim into her friend's apartment, exposed himself and proceeded to sexually assault the woman.

The victim continually said "no" and tried to prevent Oluwajana from taking off her clothing, prosecutors said. She also tried to no avail to spray Oluwajana in the face with a nearby hairspray canister.

When the victim's friend and the furniture-store employee returned, they noticed Oluwajana leaving the apartment, according to prosecutors. The victim immediately told her friend what happened, and a rape kit was collected that day.

Police arrested Oluwajana inside his apartment shortly before noon Aug. 18, court records show. The Nigerian native is currently on supervision for a misdemeanor DUI conviction, prosecutors said.

Cook County Judge James Brown on Wednesday ordered Oluwajana held in lieu of $150,000 bail.
