By Kelly Bauer | September 1, 2016 8:21am

CHICAGO — A shooting early Thursday in the Lathrop Homes left a 47-year-old man critically wounded, police said.

At 4:20 a.m., the man was walking in the 2000 block of West Diversey Avenue when a black Honda Civic stopped alongside him and someone inside yelled gang slogans and then shot at him, police said.

The man was hit in the abdomen and the lower right part of his back. He was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition, police said.

The shooting appeared to be gang-related, police said, but it was unknown if the victim was affiliated with a gang.

No one was in custody.
