CHICAGO — A shooting in Austin left Elijah Sims, 16, dead early Tuesday, police said.
At 10:11 p.m. Monday, Sims was standing with a 15-year-old boy on the corner in the 5500 block of West Quincy when they heard shots and felt pain, police said.
Sims was hit in his head and was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said. Sims, of the 1900 block of West Harrison, was pronounced dead at 7:30 a.m., according to Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records.
The 15-year-old was hit in his back and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable" police said.
No one was in custody.
