CHICAGO — A man was shot in Gage Park Sunday afternoon, and his attacker was caught by police, who fired shots at the fleeing man, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The victim, whose age was not immediately known, was shot in his shoulder while in the 5600 block of South Campbell Avenue at 3:15 p.m. Sunday, said Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not released.

Officers on patrol in the area heard the shots, and neighbors pointed police to the man who fired them, Zala said.

The shooter ran away, and at least one officer fired at him before he was arrested, Zala said. A gun was found at the scene.

Two officers suffered minor injuries during the incident, Zala said.
