CHICAGO — Ramon Tolbert, 35, was shot dead on Friday night in Austin, police said.
At 6:12 p.m., Tolbert was standing outside on the 1500 block of North Meade Avenue when a car drove up and someone got out and fired shots, said Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago Police spokesman.
Tolbert was hit in his head and chest, Gaines said.
Tolbert, of the 200 block of North Kildare Avenue, was pronounced dead at 6:49 p.m. at the scene, according to Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records.
The shooter got into the car and drove off, Gaines said.
No one was in custody.
