LOGAN SQUARE — A man fired multiple shots from a handgun inside a Logan Square liquor store before robbing the shop Friday afternoon, according to police.

Witnesses inside Danny's Buy Low, 2220 N. Western Ave., said the suspect pointed the silver handgun at customers in line while demanding money from the register.

At about 3:56 p.m. Friday, the masked suspect grabbed a 22-year-old woman who had just purchased beer by the hair and forced her to the ground.

He also pointed the gun at that woman.

"It was pretty scary," said the victim, who asked to remain anonymous. "I still haven't really processed it."

An employee of the store struggled with the suspect before the man shot the weapon twice, according to Chicago Police Officer Michelle Tannehill, a police spokeswoman.

The 22-year-old victim who spoke with DNAinfo shortly after the robbery said the man counted down from five while pointed the weapon and demanding money from the register.

An employee handed over an undisclosed amount of cash before the suspect fled on foot.

Police and the victim said no one was injured during the robbery.

The suspect was described as a black man in his 20s and was wearing a cloth-like mask over his face.

The 22-year-old victim was shaken up and said she was worried about telling her mom, as she just moved to Chicago two years ago from Florida.

"I guess I finally got my robbery cherry popped," the victim said.
