LOGAN SQUARE — This weekend, as usual, there lots of exciting events happening in both Logan Square and Humboldt Park, ranging from exhibition openings to beach-based dance workshops.

Here are seven picks for a great weekend out in the neighborhood.

Back to School Bash

Head to Logan Square's new-ish brewery Hopewell Brewing Co. to celebrate the start of school Saturday. The all-day party will include free pie and biscuits from Bang Bang as well as $1 off pints of Field Day. A percent of proceeds will go toward Open Books, a nonprofit bookstore with thousands of donated used books for adults and kids. The party starts at noon and runs until Midnight, 2760 N. Milwaukee Ave.

Peace on the Beach

The Chicago-based Latin fusion group A Flor De Piel is hosting a free afternoon workshop on the newly-opened Humboldt Park Beach Saturday. The event will include lyric writing, dance and percussion. Peace on the Beach starts at 4:15 p.m. and runs until 5 p.m., 1400 N. Sacramento Ave.

Let's Talk About It

Logan Square-based Galerie F is hosting the opening of their latest exhibit Friday night that focuses on overlooked perspectives from all walks of life. The exhibition is intended to focus on artwork that inspires dialogue on current societal conflicts. The opening party will be held from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m., 2381 N. Milwaukee Ave.

Movie in Humboldt Park

The last movie night in Humboldt Park this summer will be held Friday night with a screening of "Maze Runner." The PG-13 movie, which is based off the hit young adult series, will begin showing at sundown, about 8 p.m. 1400 N. Sacramento.

Live Drawing at the Comfort Station

Stop by the Comfort Station in Logan Square before or after the farmer's market Sunday for a live drawing event with illustrator Rachal Duggan. The event will include illustrations by request from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. followed by a lecture on her personal history as an illustrator. Duggan, RADillustrates, illustrates for publications including the Chicago Reader, the Pitchfork Review, Newcity and Tom Tom Magazine.

Chicago Singles Club

No, this is not a speed dating or even date-related event, but there will be good music. Chicago Singles Club is actually an online music publication and record label. The monthly event, which is held at Cole's Bar, will feature music from four handpicked local bands. The event is free from 10 p.m. until 1 a.m., 2338 N. Milwaukee Ave.

Afro-Latin Series

Head down to Julia de Burgos Park, a neighborhood pocket park located off The 606, for an afternoon of free music. Iré Elese Abure will perform song, dance and drumming in the traditions of Afro-Cuban folklore from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., 1805 N. Albany Ave.
