Jefferson Park Shooting Critically Wounds Man, 21, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 21-year-old man was shot and critically wounded in Jefferson Park on Thursday night, police said.

At 9:50 p.m., the man was in the 5800 block of west Giddings Street when he was shot in his head, police said.

The man was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition, police said. The shooting was possibly accidental and self-inflicted, police said.

The shooting took place across the street from Prussing Elementary School, 4650 N. Menard Ave.

No one was in custody.
