MOUNT GREENWOOD — St. Xavier University will host its annual Cougar 5K Run/Walk as part of Homecoming 2016 festivities.
The race begins at 9 a.m. Oct. 8 at the university's Shannon Center — the school's main athletic building at 3700 W. 103rd St. in Mount Greenwood.
It costs $35 for preregistered participants to enter the race and $30 for faculty, staff, alumni and students. Prices increase by $10 for all race-day entries. There's also a family rate of $75 for up to three family members. Additional family members can be added for $25 each.
All participants will receive a long-sleeve, moisture-wicking T-shirt. Runners and walkers can also receive tickets to the Cougar's homecoming football game at 1 p.m. the same day of the race. St. Xavier will face Concordia University.
Prize money will be awarded to the top three overall male and female runners, as well as anyone who breaks the current male record (15:21) and female record (18:52).
Post-race massages, free blood pressure checks, children’s activities and a visit from the school's mascot, "Champ" are also included as part of the race. Free refreshments will be provided too.
