GLADSTONE PARK — The lineup for the first Throwback Music Fest — set for Sept. 9-11 in Gladstone Park — promises a trip back to the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, organizers said.

Hosted by the Gladstone Park Chamber of Commerce and the Gladstone Park Neighborhood Association, each day of the festival will harken back to a different bygone era of music.

The festival will take place on Milwaukee Avenue from Elston Avenue to Peterson Avenue, organizers said.

The festival will take place from 4-10:30 p.m. Sept. 9, 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Sept. 10 and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sept. 11. Admission is $5, a portion of which will benefit the chamber's scholarship program.

Sixteen Candles, which pays tribute to the songs of the 1980s, will headline the fest Sept. 9, while The Shagadelics, a disco tribute act, will headline the fest Sept. 10 and Generation, which plays classic rock and soul, will close out the fest Sept. 11.

A pet parade and costume contest will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday. Pets are encouraged to dress up as musicians from the '50s-'80s, organizers said.

Kids activities include crafts, bounce houses, face painting, a climbing wall and a hula hoop contest.

Attendees can try their luck — or demonstrate their skill — at riding a mechanical bull from 6 to 8 p.m. each day of the festival. The cost is $5.

Tickets for craft beer tastings that will take place from 2-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday are available online for $25.

The festival will close Milwaukee Avenue between Elston and Peterson Avenues to traffic and parking from noon Sept. 9 until midnight Sept. 11. Southbound traffic will be directed to Elston Avenue before heading south on Austin Avenue to Milwaukee Avenue. Northbound traffic will be detoured onto Austin Avenue and then to Elston Avenue and back to Milwaukee Avenue.
