DOWNTOWN — Hoping for a sunny weekend to beat the back-to-school blues? Too bad.

It'll be rainy, hot and humid Saturday and Sunday, with the city's only break coming on Friday. It'll be a bit cooler and sunnier then, said AccuWeather meteorologist Tom Kines.

Friday will see temperatures in the 70s, and the humidity that's plagued the city this week will take a break for the day, Kines said. There will be a "good amount" of sunshine, he said.

"Friday's a very comfortable day," Kines said. "That's probably the best of the three days."

But if Friday is the "best" of the three days, Saturday is the worst, Kines said: Saturday will see the high humidity return, and rain showers and thunderstorms are expected. There could be two or three showers on Saturday, with the rain expected to hit in the afternoon and evening, Kines said.

The day will get as hot as 80 degrees, but it'll feel warmer thanks to the humidity, Kines said.

Sunday is expected to see high temperatures in the low to mid-80s, but high humidity will also make that day feel warmer, Kines said. Showers are expected in the afternoon and evening on Sunday, too.

"I don't think either day is a washout, but if you have outdoor plans you might want to [plan] for that pop-up shower or thunderstorm," Kines said.
