ASHBURN — A 22-year-old man was found dead in the front yard of a Southwest Side home on Tuesday evening, police said.

At 6:54 p.m., neighbors called 911 reporting gunshots in the 7900 block of South Kirkland Avenue, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Officers arrived and found the man lying in the yard with a gunshot wound in his chest, Pacheco said.

The man was pronounced dead on scene, Pacheco said.

He has been identified as Victor Mata of the 4900 block of South Marshfield Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

No one is in custody, police said.
