Christopher Hibbler Killed In South Shore Shooting, Another Wounded

By  Kelly Bauer and Joe Ward | August 23, 2016 4:48pm

CHICAGO — Two men were shot — one fatally — in a South Shore attack Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

At 3:22 p.m., the men were in the 7500 block of South Phillips Avenue when they were hit by gunfire, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman.

One of the men, 42, was hit multiple times in his chest, Sweeney said, and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as Christopher Hibbler, of the 8200 block of South Saginaw, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. He was pronounced dead at 3:40 p.m. and an autopsy showed he died of multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.

A 27-year-old man had his back grazed by a bullet and was taken to Jackson Park Hospital, where his condition was not released but police were considering him to be stable.

No further information was immediately available.
