ROSELAND — A man was taken into custody in Roseland after exchanging gunfire with police officers, officials said.
Around 2:15 p.m., an alert was sent over the citywide police scanner about the incident in the 300 block of West 105th Place.
A man fired shots at police officers and the officers returned fire, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman.
A SWAT team and a police K-9 unit were called to the scene to help search for the man.
Around 3 p.m., officers reported that the man had been taken into custody in the 200 block of West 106th Place, and a gun was found.
Roseland resident Michael Williams was in the basement of his home when he heard two shots. He told DNAinfo that he saw two police officers in the alley.
"I've been hearing gunshots around here too often as of late," Williams said. "A neighbor a mine was shot not too long ago. I heard gunshots in my neighbor's yard."
No officers were reported hurt.
It was not immediately clear whether the man was wounded.
