CHICAGO — A middle-aged man and woman were shot during a robbery attempt in Avondale Sunday afternoon, according to police.

A 40-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man were in the 3400 block of North Allen Avenue at 4:10 p.m. Sunday when someone came up and tried to rob them, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The woman was shot in her buttocks and the man was shot in his left hand, Tannehill said. They made it to Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center where they were listed in good condition.

It was unclear if their belongings were taken in the robbery attempt.
