CHICAGO — A shooting in Avalon Park left Martel McCary, 24, dead on Friday morning, police said.
At 8:40 a.m., McCary was outside in the 7900 block of South Kimbark Avenue when a blue sedan drove up, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. Someone got out of the car, shot at McCary and then got into the car and drove west on 80th Street.
McCary was hit multiple times throughout his body and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was in serious condition, Estrada said.
McCary, of the 7900 block of South Kimbark Street, was pronounced dead at 2:59 p.m., according to Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records.
No one was in custody in the shooting.
