COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A Belmont Cragin love triangle ended in bloodshed Tuesday when 19-year-old Kirino Fabian was stabbed to death by a longtime friend, prosecutors said.

Alexis Gonzalez, 20, has been charged with first-degree murder.

According to prosecutors, Fabian was hanging out with his brother and two friends early Tuesday when someone called Fabian to tell him his on-and-off-again girlfriend was at Gonazlez's house.

Fabian and his friends in the car and Gonzalez were all longtime friends, prosecutors said.

Police said the woman was currently dating Gonzalez.

Fabian asked one of his friends, who'd been driving the group around in a red Honda, to head to Gonzalez's home in the 2100 block of North Lavergne Avenue, Assistant State's Attorney Guy Lisuzzo said during a bond hearing Wednesday.

Once there, Fabian asked the woman to come outside and shouted toward the house, prosecutors said. Gonzalez's mother told Fabian to go away or she would call the police.

The group left, Lisuzzo said, but Fabian soon started to receive Facebook messages from the on-and-off-again girlfriend.

Fabian, his brother and their two friends headed back toward Lavergne and Dickens avenues, prosecutors said. There, the woman started to get into the car — but she was stopped by Gonzalez, who began stabbing Fabian, prosecutors said.

Fabian was stabbed in his face, head, arms and back, according to Lisuzzo, and when his 20-year-old brother intervened, he got stabbed, too.

Fabian's brother and two friends eventually drove him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy was slated for Wednesday.

Police arrested Gonzalez about 4 a.m. Tuesday in the 2000 block of North La Crosse Avenue after multiple witnesses identified him as the stabber, court records show.

Gonzalez's public defender said Gonzalez previously worked as a forklift operator at O'Hare Airport and both of his parents are pastors. None of his family was in court Wednesday.

Cook County Judge Peggy Chiampas on Wednesday ordered Gonzalez held in lieu of $900,000 bail.
