SOUTH SHORE — Con Funk Shun will headline this year’s South Shore Summer Festival on Sunday.

The free festival, which starts at 11 a.m., will bring the classic ‘70s soul funk band to its sixth year at the South Shore Cultural Center, 7059 S. South Shore Drive.

Con Funk Shun will hit the stage at 6:30 p.m., closing out the fest, which will also include food, artists and activities for kids.

The band had a string of four gold records between 1977-80 with hits like “Ffun” and “Too Tight.” Its sound has also been heavily sampled by hip hop producers as early as 1988 with M.C. Zeus’ “Get Off” and more recently on Drake’s “AM 2 PM” and Lil Wayne’s “Kush,” according to the site Who Sampled.

Con Funk Shun is just the topper on a bill heavy with rhythm and blues.

The full schedule includes:

• 1 p.m., Kiana (R&B), 1 p.m.

• 1:30 p.m., South Shore Drill Team

• 1:45 p.m., Nathan Charles (R&B)

• 2:30 p.m., Ieshia (R&B)

• 3:15 p.m., Michon Young featuring T.L. Williams and The Storm Chasers Orchestra (stepper/R&B)
