5 Things To Do in Logan Square/Humboldt Park This Weekend

LOGAN SQUARE — The summer heat continues into this weekend will a full schedule of events in the neighborhood.

We hope you have a chance to soak up the rest of your summer.

Here are some of our favorite events for this weekend in Logan Square and Humboldt Park.

Catch a movie in the park

Head out to Kosciuszko Park Friday night for a screening of "Max." The flick starts at dusk, which is approximately 8 p.m. The movie features a military service dog that comes home from Afghanistan and forms a close bond with the brother of his handler who is killed in action. 2732 N. Avers Ave.

Dance late into the night

Concord Music Hall will feature a night of bachata and salsa Saturday. The party will feature live entertainment from both the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. The bachata y salsa fiesta starts at 9 p.m. and will continue until 4 a.m. Women are free with a ticket obtained online. Admission is $15 for men. 2047 N. Milwaukee Ave.

Gaze at the stars

Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, Venus and of course the moon will all be visible as the Chicago Astronomer Crew returns to The 606 for its monthly public observation session. The astronomers will be set up at the western trailhead, 1802 N. Ridgeway, starting at 7 p.m. and will help visitors catch a glimpse of space until 10 p.m.

Foosball Olympics

Chicago's athletes who prefer to keep their skills on the table than in the field should head to Emporium's Logan Square location Sunday for a foosball tournament. The Emporium Logan Square Foosball Olympics kicks off at 5 p.m. Registration begins at 4 p.m. for the free event. 2363 N. Milwaukee Ave.

Humboldt Park 5K

The Logan Square Neighborhood Association is hosting its annual Humboldt Park 5K Sunday. The event will be both a fundraising effort and will highlight the work the group's youths are doing to engage and address community issues of gentrification, education justice and cultural preservation. Registration for the run is $45. The 5K starts at 8:30 a.m. near California and Division.
