BUCKTOWN — A man has been arrested in connection with the July Bucktown "creeper" case, a police source confirmed Friday night.

DNAinfo is not naming the man until he is formally charged by police, but it was confirmed that he was arrested earlier this week on Wednesday. He was paroled in March for two burglary convictions, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections website.

In July, Bucktown resident Jack Mackercher and his girlfriend fell asleep on their couch watching Netflix after they neglected to lock the balcony door in their duplex, when a stranger was caught on surveillance video as he stood over them from the upper level and watched them for about 15 minutes.

A purse that Mackercher's girlfriend left on their bed was stolen sometime during the night.

After the incident, Mackercher learned that at least five of his neighbors near Armitage Avenue and Leavitt Street reported seeing a man wander from home to home the night of the incident. Multiple photos and videos of a bearded man, cloaked in a white hoodie, showed up on a neighborhood Facebook group page the next day.

A man was previously taken into custody in connection with the case, but was released.
