MCKINLEY PARK — Curious how other gardens in the neighborhood turned out this year?

The yearly McKinley Park Garden Walk is set for Sunday. From 1-4 p.m., green-thumbed enthusiasts will have a chance to set off on a self-guided tour of some of McKinley Park's best vegetable and flower gardens.

There will be three locations where vegetation tourists can pick up a map of gardens featured on the tour:

Grandpa's Delight Ice Cream Cafe, 2025 W. 35th St.

McKinley Park Farmers Market at the intersection of 37th Street and Archer Avenue.

McKinley Park Community Garden, 1900 W. Pershing Ave.

"This year many of the gardens will have mini-workshops and tastings of produce from their gardens," said Jessica Fong, the McKinley Park resident organizing the event.

The workshops will include edible backyard foraging and seed saving. Tastings will include mint tea and Thai cucumber salad.

At other gardens, participants will be able to take part in activities. At Fong's garden — where you'll find daisies, goji berries and cucumbers — she'll allow tourists to collect seeds they can plant next year.

Also on the tour is the McKinley Park Community Garden, a grassroots effort that's grown to dozens of plots on an otherwise industrial stretch of West Pershing Road.
