EDGEWATER — X-ray machines and medical equipment will replace beaded pillows and wicker chairs at 5304 N. Broadway where Advocate Health Care is opening up a medical office in the former Pier 1 store.
Permits were recently issued by the city for a $40,520 renovation of the Edgewater furniture and decorative store, which has remained vacant since closing.
The store will be transformed into a medical office which will have primary care doctors, can get blood drawn, have X-rays and also get immediate care, Advocate spokeswoman Mary Ann Schultz said.
The office should be open and seeing patients by early 2017, Schultz said.
Advocate will join Harken Health and Chicago Health Medical Group on North Broadway, both new medical offices to open recently.
