Armed Robbers Targeting Northbound Red Line Riders With Knife, Police Say

ROGERS PARK — Police are warning Rogers Park community members and other Red Line commuters to stay alert after men with a knife twice robbed passengers. 

In a community alert, police said while traveling north on the Red Line, passengers were approached by 2-3 men who displayed knives before demanding passengers' personal items. 

The men then exit the train at either the Red Line's Jarvis or Howard Street stops in Rogers Park. 

Both incidents occurred around 2 a.m. with the first on Aug. 5 in the 1500 block of West Jarvis Avenue and the other Aug. 7 in the 7500 block of North Paulina Street.

Police described the robbers as black men between the ages of 20-25, 6-foot-1 to 6-foot-5 and 170-220 pounds.
