WEST PULLMAN — A 17-year-old died hours after being shot in his head in West Pullman early Sunday morning, officials said.

At 2:20 a.m., the teen was standing with a 41-year-old man on the sidewalk in the 300 block of East 130th Street in West Pullman when they heard gunshots and felt pain, according to a police incident report.

The teen, later identified as Corey Buckner, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was in critical condition with a gunshot wound in his head, police said.

Buckner, of the 13200 block of South Eberhart Avenue, was pronounced dead just before 8 a.m. Sunday morning, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The 41-year-old was also taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed as "stable."
