BUCKTOWN — This weekend's Bucktown Tree and Garden Walk will include a chance to tour over 70 private gardens and participate in a guided tree walk, along with a petting zoo and nature workshops.

Set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, the Bucktown Garden and Tree walk will be headquartered at Churchill Park, 1825 N. Damen Ave.

Gardens will open at 11 a.m. Lottie's Pub will host a petting zoo from 2 to 6 p.m. both days.

Local tree keepers will also lead educational walks to identifying trees in the area.

At Churchill Park, Lottie's Pub, or Club Lucky, 1824 W. Wabansia Ave., attendees can buy a guide book with a map of the gardens for a $10 donation.

Profits from sales of the guide books at the 12th annual event will benefit local parks and schools, neighborhood beautification projects, tree planting and green initiatives, according to the event host, the Bucktown Community Organization.

In Churchill Park, a children's area will be open from 10 a.m. to noon, offering nature inspired activities sponsored by local businesses and schools. An "Urban Gardening Inspiration Space" will stay open all afternoon and include gardening workshops.

A trolley will shuttle garden walkers around the area. Valet parking will be available at Club Lucky.

Live music at Club Lucky's starts at noon. Local businesses in Bucktown will offer entertainment, refreshments and special garden walk deals for visitors.

Volunteers are still being sought for two-hour shifts. Email garden@bucktown.org to volunteer.
