THE LOOP — Think your kid's got what it takes to play Tiny Tim in "A Christmas Carol"?

The Goodman Theatre is looking for kids ages 5 to 17 to audition for the roles of Tiny Tim, Emily Cratchit, Belinda Cratchit and Turkey Boy, according to a Goodman Theatre news release. Acting experience is not required, though children who audition will have to recite a poem or memorized dialogue for one minute or less and sing.

Tiny Tim is the sickly son of Bob Cratchit, main character Ebenezer Scrooge's employee. Grumpy, greedy Scrooge becomes more sympathetic to the plight of the poor when he sees how ill Tiny Tim is and when the Ghost of Christmas Future shows him Tim will die without help.

The character is famous for the words, "God bless us, every one!"

Children of all ethnicities and genders can audition for Tiny Tim and the other roles, according to the Goodman Theatre.

Auditions are Aug. 27. In-person, day-of registration is 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Goodman Theatre, 170 N. Dearborn St. Those auditioning should have a photo and resume that lists their experience, address and contact information.

"A Christmas Carol" will run Nov. 19-Dec. 31, with rehearsals going from Oct. 25-Nov. 18.
