LAKEVIEW — A 27-year-old man was shot in the neck in a Lakeview alley Monday evening, police said.

Witnesses reported hearing gunshots around 8:30 p.m., said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Neighbors then found the man wounded in an alley near the intersection of Belmont and Racine avenues, Lemmon said.

ABC7 quoted a witness saying the victim was wearing flip flops, carrying a Gatorade bottle and was shot near the gas station.

He was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, Lemmon said.

No one is in custody, police said.
