AUSTIN — Donta Lee, 29, was shot to death early Tuesday morning while walking on the sidewalk in Austin, police said.
At 12:30 a.m., Lee was walking in the 5500 block of West Gladys Avenue when someone jumped out of a nearby white car and shot him in his chest, according to a police report.
Lee was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police said he was a documented gang member.
Lee, of Maywood, was pronounced dead at 1 a.m., according to Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records.
No one is in custody, police said.
