By Alex Nitkin | August 1, 2016 4:37pm

BACK OF THE YARDS — A 20-year-old man died five days after being shot in Back of the Yards last month, officials said.

At 8:50 p.m. on July 18, the man was standing in the 4400 block of South Wolcott Avenue in Back of the Yards when a man jumped out of a nearby black sedan and shot at him, according to Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition with a gunshot wound in his head, Alfaro said.

The man was pronounced dead on July 23, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

He was identified as Roberto Ortiz, of suburban Cicero.
