Belmont Cragin Shooting Kills Paul Farlinger, 49, Wounds Another: Police

CHICAGO — A shooting in Belmont Cragin left one man dead and another wounded on Friday afternoon, police said.

At 2:45 p.m., a 49-year-old man and 21-year-old man were in the 2000 block of North LaPorte Avenue when someone fired at them from a car, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The 49-year-old man was shot in his stomach and shoulder and was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition, Estrada said. The man was later pronounced dead.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Paul Farlinger, of the 1800 block of South Loomis Street.

The 21-year-old man was hit in his ankle and was taken to West Suburban Hospital in good condition, Estrada said.

No one was in custody.
